IP Everywhere in Preview of CEDIA EXPO 2008

IP networking and control are again highlighted as one of the fast growing trends to watch at this year's CEDIA Expo. In his article "CEDIA and Beyond" in the August 2008 edition of SVC Sound & Video Contractor magazine, contributing editor Jack Kontney discusses some of the technologies with the biggest impact with CEDIA Senior Director of Technology Dave Pedigo. Kontney writes, "Internet protocol (IP) has already won the war for control of residential AV installations, and CEDIA Expo 2008 features many developing IP-related technologies. Broadband delivery and IP control of the entire home experience is now very practical, limited only by the home’s available bandwidth." Pedigo says, "If you don't know Internet protocol already, you'd better jump on the wagon now, because everything will continue to be increasingly IP-driven." The article goes on to point out that one of the biggest advantages of IP is how it can contribute directly to an integrator's revenue and profitability, quoting Atomoo CEO Brian Post about the impact for traditional integrators working on a break-fix business model to shift to a more poductive and efficient model by leveraging integrated remote IP solutions.
